Attendees of doctors, patients and citizens from different areas in Bohol came to join the Forum about latest breakthroughs in cancer treatment.
This forum was organized by Dra. Ma. Delia R. Maluenda, the Head-OBGYN Dept. of GCGMH, who happened to encounter such new medical breakthroughs in treating cancer in a less invasive way than the conventionally known modalities from the Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou in China. The highlights are latest proven effective cancer/tumor treatments and interventions which feature “Minimal Invasive Targeted Therapy Integrated with Combined Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine”.
The invited speaker, Dr. Xiaochi Peng, who is the Director of Oncology Department of Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, has finished Medicine courses both in Sun Yat Sen University and in Canada. He discussed about several advanced modalities, such as Interventional Therapy, Radioactive Seeds Implantation, Cryoablation and Radiofrequency Ablation, Gene Therapy, Bio-Immunotherapy, etc. These modalities are performed within a short period of time creating only needles punctures without big open wounds. Also, the patients will no longer be bed ridden after the procedure and the side effects shall be lowered to the least. Moreover, these modalities can be applied to advanced patients that can no longer undergo surgery, chemotherapy or other conventional treatments. Thus, such advance techniques will then be our newest weapons in fighting the most dreaded ailment-CANCER.
The introduction of such new modalities brought a warm round of applause from the audience. Attendees were amazed with the new technology and have thousands of questions in mind. After the lecture, certain time was allotted for open forum where they voiced out their inquiries and the expert shall answer them in the best possible way.
