It can be very big, also can be very small, and sometimes even cannot be felt at all. For the one who develops it unconsciously, it is heavy like a mountain pressing in chest---suffocating, scary, and miserable, therefore it is known as the killer of human’s health.
Mr. Wang, 59 years old, from Vietnam, has a considerate and gentle wife, two dexterous daughters who got married successively at the end of the last year, therefore, his friends often say: "your biggest wish has come true, and now you and your wife will enjoy an easy and carefree life".
To mention Mr. Wang, almost no one do not know him in the local, because he likes drinking very much thus he attains his “fame”. He drinks in dinner party and even when he is alone, so far he has never met his “rival", now he drinks at least 5 bottles of wine with 0.5 kilogram every day. In his opinion, drinking is a kind of fun.
However, at end of the January this year, Mr. Wang found himself becoming thinner, but he did not care and just thought it might be too busy with his two daughter's marriage ceremony for the previous period. Just a month later, he became worried until one day after dinner he developed abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, because he never had those symptoms before even if he drinks so much. Then, he went to a local hospital and did CT scans and colonoscopy, and the doctor coldly left a word with his results: “we consider it is liver metastases from colon cancer.”
Extreme joy begets sorrow. Mr. Wang could not believe he got cancer at all, so he refused all the examinations and diagnosis. With thinning day by day, his families had to persuade him in turn. Finally, his little daughter knew the reason that it was not because he could not believe he got cancer but he could not bear the doctor’s cold eye and what’ more, he was afraid to lose face in front of his friends due to his cancer.
Can cancer treatment be delayed? Of course not, so the only way that can solve his worry is to find a doctor he will cooperate with. After discussion, his two daughters agreed to send his father to go abroad for treatment, by asking around, finally they found Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou.
On March 31, 2012, accompanied by families, Mr. Wang came to Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, China. His chief complaint: the patient’s sleep and spirit were being well, but only semi-fluid food can be taken, with loose stool four to six times a day, and his weight lost nearly 10 kg. For the patient history, he developed chronic antral gastritis and mixed hemorrhoid for years, but no systematic treatment was received, in addition, tests found that Mr. Wang had multiple lipoma in chest and abdominal parts. CT showed that the whole ascending segment wall and the hepatic flexure of the colon wall were thickening, of which the most thick part reached 1.5cm, besides, a soft tissue shadow about 1.7*1.8cm can be seen in anterolateral margin of hepatic flexure of colon; In the right hepatic lobe close to diaphragmatic surface, a nodular density lowered shadow can be seen. After colonoscopy combined with CT, both liver and retroperitoneal lymph node metastases from colon cancer, accompanied by mechanical obstruction of colon can be considered.
According to patient history and testing results, experts from Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou thought the surgery was applicable to the patient and a treatment plan was given. In April 9th, resection of ascending colon cancer was carried out, and during it, tumor about 4cm*5cm in the flexure of ascending colon was found, in addition, the right segment of transverse colon that was 15 cm from the tumor, ileocecal valve and terminal ileum that are 2cm from it , were removed. The whole procedure went very smoothly: the patient was with stable vital signs and little bleeding. After the procedure, Mr. Wang jokingly said:” I did not feel any pain, and even I wonder, is that all? ”
The result of pathological examination showed that differentiated adenocarcinoma in the colon and lymph nodes metastases from transverse mesentery were found. According to this result, after two weeks of the surgery, chemotherapy and interventional therapy as well as natural therapy were carried out. With Mr. Wang’s active cooperation, all operation and treatment went through very smoothly. In May 15th, the doctor of Mr. Wang told that his postoperative recovery situation was good and symptoms disappeared, moreover, the doctor also told him to quit drinking, do some physical exercise regularly so as to improve his fitness.
Though far from home, Mr. Wang felt warmth from care of the doctors and nurses from Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou, and largely his condition became better with his good mood and mental state. Here we can expect Mr. Wang is not far away from enjoying healthy life any more.
