Nasopharyngeal Cancer Data

About 70% of nasopharyngeal cancer patients were at the advanced stage and missed the best treatment time when they went to hospital.

The 5-year survival rate of nasopharyngeal cancer patients who get treatment at early stage is about 90%.

Nasopharyngeal Cancer Staging
Stage I :
Cancer is found only in the nasopharynx without distant metastasis.
Stage II:
Cancer is in the nasopharynx, and spread to surrounding or nearby tissues, such as oropharynx, nose, lymph nodes.
Stage III:
Cancer is in the nasopharynx and spread to the lymph nodes and possibly nearby bones or sinuses
Stage IV:
Cancer has spread beyond the nasopharynx and lymph nodes and tissues located throughout the body.
Minimally Invasive Therapy for Nasopharyngeal Cancer
Traditional Treatment

Traditional treatments for nasopharyngeal cancer can be summarized as “devastating treatments”. This “devastating treatments” greatly kill cancer cells, but they cannot just only target to the local tumor. They kill normal cells and bring harm to normal tissues and organs, causing great damage to the human body, even death.

Minimally Invasive Therapy

Minimally invasive therapies in Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou not only kill cancer cells accurately and effectively, but also have the advantages of quick recovery, small trauma, few side effects, no surgery, etc. Minimally invasive therapies can avoid disadvantages of traditional treatments and greatly prolong patient’s survival time.

Interventional Therapy
Small Trauma, Accurately Kill Cancer Cells
Interventional therapy is a minimally invasive therapy under the guidance of medical image equipment. It is divided into two parts: anticancer drugs injection and transarterial embolization. Anticancer drugs are injected to accurate tumors and the drugs concentration increases 2-8 times to kill cancer cell effectively without damage to normal tissues. Transarterial embolization is to cut off the tumor blood vessels so that the tumor dies out of blood supply. Patients who undergo this therapy do not need to have invasive surgery but just open 0.5-1.0mm incision in the blood vessel and skin. It causes only small trauma but can kill cancer cells accurately.
VS Radiotherapy: Large Damage

Radiotherapy will kill both cancer cells and normal cells at the same time, which damages patient’s immune system. So, radiotherapy has great limitation.

Gene Targeted
Few Side Effects, Targeting to Kill Cancer Cells
Targeted gene therapy is using corresponding medicines against the specific carcinogenic sites (those sites could be a protein molecule or a genetic segment in tumor cells). The medicine would take effect by specially combining carcinogenic sites after entering human body, thus tumor cells would die specifically without affecting normal cells around. Briefly, targeted gene therapy aims at a specific gene and then eliminating it. Targeted gene therapy is against disease roots: abnormal genes, this is the fundamental solution for cancer.
Green Chemotherapy
Minimize Side Effects, Maximize Therapy Efficacy
Chemotherapy is a milestone in cancer treatments. It applies chemo drugs to kill tumor cells, suppresses the growth and proliferation of cancer cells. It is currently considered as a main therapy for cancer; however, conventional chemotherapy can result in decreased immunity and normal tissue cells damage. Modern Cancer Hospital Guangzhou modified conventional chemotherapy with means, minimizing its side effects while maximizing the efficacy, which is believed to be a new chemical weapon to treat cancer. With the advantages of reducing side effects greatly, those chemotherapies applied in the hospital are considered as green chemotherapies.
Professional Medical Team

MDT (Multidisciplinary Team) consists of doctors and nurses of various departments such as medical oncology, surgical oncology, traditional Chinese medicine department, pathology department, imaging department, anesthetists and professional nurses etc. MDT makes sure that patients get the most effective, suitable and economic therapeutic regimen, and the best efficacy.
