Rosalia, a 52-year-old mother from the Philippines, was the undeniable "backbone" of her family. Besides raising her own son, she also cared for four orphans who had lost their parents. For years, she had been the support and light of this household. However, the weight of life was far greater. In 2019, a diagnosis of "Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 3A Breast Cancer" shattered the peace of her life. Although she bravely underwent a mastectomy and endured the long and painful process of 33 radiotherapy sessions and multiple rounds of chemotherapy, thinking she had finally reached a "cancer-free" new life, fate bared its fangs again in early 2023—the cancer recurred. More despairingly, this time the illness left her unable to stand, and even lying flat became a luxury. When doctors suggested "chemotherapy again," memories of over ten days of relentless vomiting and hair loss instantly overwhelmed her. The deep-seated fear of the side effects far outweighed her fear of the disease itself. She resolutely decided to stop and seek another possible path.

The Resolve to Avoid Past Ordeals
To save her life, Rosalia began actively searching online for various alternative therapies and tried 17 sessions of ozone therapy, but she knew this was far from enough to fight the stubborn disease. It was then that a familiar name resurfaced in her mind—Guangzhou Modern Cancer Hospital. In fact, this hospital was not unfamiliar to Rosalia. As early as 2019, she had a face-to-face consultation with doctors from the visiting Manila International Services Center in Cebu. The seed of trust was quietly planted back then. Now, as she searched for the hospital again online, delved deeper into its minimally invasive treatment philosophy, and watched the real testimonials of successful cancer patients, she felt she had finally found the long-awaited answer—an effective treatment that didn't require destroying her body as a cost. It was the firm resolve "to avoid past ordeals" that pushed her to make the decision herself: to go to China, to Guangzhou, to give herself a new possibility.
Precision Treatment Lifts Physical Confinement
Before arriving at the hospital, Rosalia's body was on the verge of collapse. As she described: "Before that, I couldn't even sit for a minute; I could only lie down constantly." This extreme pain made her journey from the Philippines to Guangzhou a severe trial in itself. Fortunately, with the kind assistance of the airline, she was able to lie across a row of seats, barely completing the transoceanic flight. When she finally arrived at the hospital, comprehensive examinations revealed the source of her severe pain: a hematoma immobilized her left arm, and a greater threat came from the rampant tumors throughout her body—they compressed her esophagus, making swallowing and breathing difficult; they had also invaded multiple lumbar vertebrae and both lungs, causing pathological fractures in several vertebrae, almost confining her to the sickbed.
After a comprehensive assessment by the MDT team, treatment began promptly. The doctors first, with remarkable efficiency, cleared the painful hematoma. "They gave me an injection, and the next day, the blood clot was gone!" Rosalia exclaimed. Subsequently, for the tumors throughout her body, the MDT team formulated a personalized plan centered on precise targeted therapy, supplemented by Traditional Chinese Medicine for overall regulation: targeted therapy precisely attacked the cancer cells, while TCM worked to regulate her overall constitution, enhance her physical strength, improve her physical and mental state, and help her complete the treatment in better condition. What comforted her most was that the treatment process here was completely different from her past experiences, without unbearable severe reactions.

After the first treatment cycle, re-examination showed that the tumors in her body had shrunk by over 50% overall. The result after the second treatment cycle was what she herself called a "miracle": CT scans showed that all the tumors on her lumbar vertebrae had completely disappeared; one lung was completely clear; and the nodule in her neck that had been growing continuously was "melted" away. The latest examination report brought an almost complete victory: both lungs were essentially clear, with only minor remaining shadows continuing to fade, and both heart function and inflammation indicators had returned to normal.

What delighted her even more than the reduction of tumors on the medical images was the "resurrection" of her quality of life. Once needing help to turn over, she could now sit up from bed by herself and walk to the bathroom alone; once bedridden due to pain, she could now walk back into the kitchen to prepare meals for her family. This regained "freedom of movement" was a gift more precious to her than any medical indicator.
Warm Care, Rediscovering Life's Colors
What made Rosalia feel warm went far beyond the advanced medical technology; it was also the constant, ever-present compassionate care. She sincerely praised the doctors here as "very sharp, smart, and cautious," with every treatment plan carefully considered to ensure it was exactly what she needed and suited her. The nurses' thoughtfulness permeated every detail. "They are so kind, friendly, and always care about you," Rosalia recalled. "Even at two in the morning, they would come to check, concerned if I was sleeping well." This feeling of being attentively cared for made her feel at home in a foreign land.

Even during Rosalia's illness, they did not forget to extend a helping hand—on her birthday, she entrusted the local church to deliver snacks and blessings to the children, and the children recorded a video, singing "Happy Birthday" in unison for her and offering prayers for her.]
During her second treatment period, she and her husband participated in the hospital-organized Pearl River Night Cruise. What made her most proud was that she proactively refused the wheelchair prepared for her and chose to walk and tour alongside her husband. This scene was a world apart from the person who couldn't even sit up upon arrival. Although it drizzled that night, standing under the dazzling city landmarks, communicating with patients from different countries who were also fighting illness and smiling again, her heart was filled with the joy of being able to enjoy the beauty of life once more.

A Path of Hope Paved with Love and Faith
Rosalia with her husband
As a "survivor" who has journeyed through despair, she knows well the difficulty of this path, but precisely because of that, she wants to loudly tell every fellow traveler: "Please don't give up hope, face life with positivity and optimism!" She attributes her firm belief to her faith and also sincerely thanks the professional medical team and meticulous care at Guangzhou Modern Cancer Hospital. She concludes with words from the Bible, hoping to pass this belief to all those still fighting cancer: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. This is the Lord's promise. Please believe firmly that prayer can change everything."
*Surgery, in addition to the appropriate chemotherapy and radiotherapy, are effective in treating early cancer, but certain patients in late stage of cancer may not be tolerate surgery well as they can be relatively weak. A combination of carefully planned minimally invasive therapy, chemotherapy or radiotherapy can effectively reduce the side effects and discomfort of treatment and may help patient get better efficacy.
